In 2010, fresh off her stint on Dancing With the Stars, which helped her lose a lot of weight, Kirstie Alley launched her own weight loss program, which she called Organic Liaison. She’s just lost a lawsuit saying she made misleading claims about the program.

As we also informed you back in 2012, a California woman, Marina Abramyan, took Alley to court saying her weight loss program was pretty much bogus.

Moreover, Abramyan said, Alley had been able to shift the extra pounds on DWTS and not thanks to Organic Liaison.

The latest print issue of The National Enquirer (story via CB) reports that the judge sided with Abramyan on the matter, ordering the actress to pay $130,000 (€99,213) in compensation, including attorney fees.

Alley is also to make certain modifications to her Organic Liaison website to reflect the fact that the program isn’t as reliable as on-site advertising makes it sound.

“According to legal documents filed in LA Superior Court on March 20, 2013, Alley must abide by the settlement agreement, which includes removing the term ‘Proven Products’ and issuing a disclaimer on Organic Liaison’s website explaining that it’s a ‘calorie-based weight-loss product’,” the tab writes.

Alley must also mention on the same website that she was on Dancing With the Stars, thus making it clear that she also lost weight because of the intense daily workouts she had to prepare the weekly routine.

“This is a major setback not only to Kirstie’s profitable business enterprise, but also to her reputation,” an insider says for the Enquirer.

“Her expensive lawyers did everything in their power trying to dismiss the lawsuit, but the judge found Kirstie’s program misleading. Her claims that her products were proven to help lose weight were deemed false advertising,” adds the insider.

A rep for the star is yet to confirm any of the above, including the hushed settlement.
