Kirstie Alley and Maks to the foxtrot on Lenny Kravitz’s “American Woman”

Kirstie Alley is determined to win Dancing With the Stars and, to do so, she’s using all the help she can get, including from celebrity friends John Travolta and wife Kelly Preston. Travolta was “the dance doctor” for the pair’s foxtrot, as the video below will confirm.

The other night, on Dancing With the Stars, Kirstie has the first dance routine which didn’t involve any mishap, a thing she was definitely terribly grateful for.

During rehearsals, she told her partner Maks that, since people said this year had no frontrunner, she wanted to be it: therefore, she was determined to give it her best and make a lasting impression with the judges and the audiences at home.

However, she believed there was only one person who could help her prevent mishaps like the ones she endured the previous two editions of the show: the dance doctor John Travolta.

“Last week we survived, but I don’t want anyone to have any doubts: I’m in this to win this. I want to be the frontrunner!” the 60-year-old actress told her dancing partner.

Said and done: for tips and motivation, she brought in her good friend, who suggested replacing the Manolo Blahnik shoes with a sneaker, and advised Maks to tell Kirstie he loved her often, preferably in English.

“Now that we’ve had a session with The Dance Doctor, the bad juju is gone and with this dance, we’re going to create magic,” Kirstie promised.

And that they did: the pair presented an entirely different new take on the foxtrot on Lenny Kravitz’s “American Women,” with Kirstie being energetic, lively and, for starters, in charge.

The number also earned them warm praises from the judges, especially from Carrie Ann and Bruno, who said it was just the kind of dancing Kirstie and Maks needed as a pair.

“That was a different take on a foxtrot, but it absolutely suited you. It was bold, it was ambitious, it was a little borderline crazy! You did it – it was magical and I think it was your best dance ever!” Carrie Ann gushed, while Bruno noted that he never believed Kirstie and Maks to be so “dirty.”

The two got a score of 23 out of 30. Check out their foxtrot and the visit from the dance doctor in the video below.
