14 DAY TRIAL // In a classic case of “you can never please everyone,” just hours after she announced that she was back on the weight loss program Jenny Craig in a bid to lose 30 pounds (13.6 kg), Kirstie Alley is forced to defend one of her lines in her brand new Jenny ad.
You will find that embedded below, the second video underneath this article. The first one is a segment from Alley’s appearance on the Rachael Ray Show, in which she defended the comment that got so many people riled up.
In the ad, Kirstie is shown on the phone with a Jenny person, asking if she could come back on the program. She says she needs help to lose weight but is quick to add that she’s “not circus fat,” she just needs to shift about 30 pounds she’s been piling on in the past couple of years.
Apparently, many people took offense with that “circus fat” part of the ad, because here is Kirstie, defending herself. As she puts it, since she’s talking about her body, she can say pretty much whatever she wants.
Also on Rachael, she explains that she actually grew up in a time when one of the biggest attractions at the circus was the fat lady, so this is where this comment came. Alley is 63 years old, in case you didn’t know – because you sure can’t tell by how amazing she looks!
“So, on my ad, I say I'm not fat-fat, I'm not circus fat, I've just gained 30 pounds. Well first of all, I'm talking about myself, and second of all, I grew up in an era – pioneer days – I grew up in an era where my dad would take me to the fair and to the circus and they actually had fat ladies in the circus,” she tells Rachael.
“Everybody in the audience was so thin that they would bring out this fat lady and would like, point and laugh. Which is hideous, I get it. But, I am talking about myself. So anyway, I think I can call myself whatever I want to call myself. I can say whatever I want and I do say things like that. I mean, I say them to myself when I look in the mirror,” the actress continues.
This is the second time Kirstie goes on Jenny: the first time was 7 years ago to the most remarkable results, as she lost 75 pounds (34 kg).
