Remember how a few days ago I was telling you that the latest Hollywood trends of the day are either to get pregnant or go to rehab? Well, as strange (and as cruel) as that sounds, it's actually true: every day more news comes about various stars who are either knocked up or seeking treatment for unspecified abuse - that is drugs or alcohol - or both. Latest examples? Latino actress Eva Mendes went to rehab, Angelina Jolie might be pregnant again, and today we found out that Spiderman leading lady Kirsten Dunst has just checked herself into the same rehab facility in Utah once famously attended by Lindsay Lohan. What took Kirsten to Cirque Lodge? Well, as you probably know, the actress wasn't exactly the quiet, silent type, and was known for her hard partying.
My guess is alcohol landed her in rehab, but you never know. "She desperately needed help. She seemed to be intoxicated when she checked in because she was acting really erratic. She was extremely emotional, constantly breaking down in tears. She's not in a good place right now, but thankfully, she's getting the help she needs" states an insider quoted by Star magazine, which broke the story. Well, of course she's not "in a good place" - if she had been, she wouldn't be checking into rehab, right? The fact is, Kirsten's reputation as a girl who wasn't afraid of long night parties and getting drunk made some bloggers call her Kirsten Drunkst - and I don't think we need further comments on that nickname.

So all we can do is keep our fingers crossed for Kirsten, and applaud her decision to seek help. I've been thinking a lot about the fact that more and more celebrities are seeking help for their problems, and came up with a theory - it's not that we have more people than usual addicted to pills or booze, but we seem to witness an increased willingness to admit to those problems and seek help. I think the whole Heath Ledger tragedy contributed to this for some part - as well as the erratic and increasingly out-of-control behavior displayed by the likes of Britney Spears. I have a feeling that Hollywood stars are beginning to understand that it's best to confront their inner demons rather than let the troubles, pressure and substance abuse pile up and put their life in danger. So, well done KiKi - hope you get better and you look after yourself properly. Stay tuned for more news.
