Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is one of the first big launches for the Wii U coming in 2015 and both the developers at HAL Laboratory and the publishing team at Nintendo are ready to reveal that the title will offer support for Amiibo figurines, continuing the trend started with Super Smash Bros.

The new trailer for the video game, which is unfortunately designed to appeal to the Japanese market, shows a number of gameplay elements and features, and it clearly explains how the new accessories will be used for the title.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is designed to use the unique elements of the Wii U, with the player asked to control the main character, who is once again in his ball form, with the GamePad.

The touchscreen is used to draw rainbow-colored lines which will help Kirby move around, with loops included to allow him to gain speed and a spin attack designed to help him deal with enemies.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse will include a variety of forms for the character, including a tank, a submarine, a rocket and more, all of them designed to suit various levels.

Amiibos are the future for Nintendo

So far, Nintendo has not said what all included Amiibo figurines will bring to the new Wii U title, but the company states that the Kirby model will activate a Star Dash, King Dedede offers more health and allows players to take more hints, and Meta Knight increases the strength of the spin attacks.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse will also include a four-player cooperative mode which will allow friends to work together to master the levels.

More details about the Amiibo support will be offered closer to launch, which will take place on January 22 in Japan, early February in North America, and later in the year in Europe.

Nintendo has recently said that it plans to bring back to stores all Amiibo figurines that were launched so far, although some of them might be offered in smaller numbers, based on the demand coming from the community.

Close to 1 million units were sold in the run-up to Christmas.
