Both the PCB and the heatspreaders are dark, leaving only the teeth gold

Kingston's HyperX Ram product line and, later on, the HyperX SSDs were known for the blue color theme, but now the company is playing a different tune, having launched the HyperX Beast and HyperX black DDR3.

Both HyperX Beast and HyperX black are random access memory modules, or rather series of modules and kits.

HyperX black is the range of products made for “entry-level enthusiasts” and sticks to the normal HyperX look and heatspreader, albeit in an all-black color scheme.

That means that both the PCB (printed circuit board) and the heatspreader are black. The only color is from the gold teeth (the brand name written in white doesn't really count).

Spec-wise, the memory works at 1,333 MHz or 1,600 MHz frequencies. Modules have a capacity of 4 GB and 8 GB, while kits (dual-channel) can be of 8 GB and 16 GB.

The HyperX Beast line is, obviously, faster and much more capacious. It is actually part of the Predator family.

The heatspreader is much more elaborate, and it isn't just because of the higher heat dissipation quotient needed. There is clear intent to make it look “cool.”

Various dual-channel and quad-channel kits are available, in capacities of 8 GB to 64 GB and speeds of up to 2,400 MHz.

“Our customers and fans have asked us to come out with HyperX memory featuring black PCBs to better match their system designs. We are able to match good looks with high performance. The black on black combination allows for easy pairing with any colour component on the market,” said Ann Keefe, regional director of Kingston’s division in UK and Ireland.

According to Kingston, the 2133MHz 64GB and 2400MHz 32GB Beast memory kits are the fastest Intel XMP-ready kits on the market right now. We can only wonder what kind of prices they will sport whenever they finally start selling.
