HyperX sticks are faster than ever

It seems that Kingston is aiming for the DDR2 crown with more and more HyperX products coming from them. And that is no mistake since big memory producers are trying to force Jedec to roll out a new DDR2 standard (probably DDR2-1066). Let's remember Corsair's Dominators and OCZ FlexXLC for a minute. I guess that memory integrators are still hanging on to their DDR2 line and won't switch to DDR3 until a platform that is DDR3 ready will come out. We'll leave that part to INTEL as they are getting very good at adopting new memory standards.

Kingston Technology announced two new overclock-oriented HyperX memory products, the KHX9200D2/XX and the KHX9600D2/XX. The latest HyperX DDR2 memory modules will be clocked at 1.15 and 1.2 GHz respectively. The modules will come clocked at CAS 5 latency which seems to be the standard for modules that work at over 1.1GHz (Corsair Dominators and OCZ FlexXLC both come with CAS5).

Kingston offers the KHX9200 and KHX9600 modules in individual 512MB and 1GB forms but also as Dual-channel 1GB and 2GB kits with matched pairs optimized for dual channel use. All Kingston HyperX KHX9200 and KHX9600 modules are reported to have been tested by ASUS for compatibility with ATI, NVIDIA and Intel chipsets and the results have shown that they work flawlessly. Raymond Chen, Vice President of Marketing for ASUS stated that: "it is clear that these modules, paired with high performance ASUS motherboards, bring the ultimate in high frequency gaming memory to PC enthusiasts."

Kingston HyperX KHX9200 and KHX9600 modules are available from the moment the first sticks reach the stores (2 or 3 days at most). Pricing starts at $137 for a single 512MB KHX9200 module and tops out with a massive $525 price tag for the 2GB KHX9600 dual channel kit.
