Coming to expand its Flash-based storage offer, Kingston has now issued a press release in which it details a new memory card that complies with the SD Specification Version 2.00 and mostly aimed at smartphones.

The memory card is a Class 4 model with a capacity of 32 GB which, as Kingston puts it, corresponds to 2,000 minutes of video, 6,000 songs or 29,000 photos.

It uses the FAT32 file format and measures 0.43 x 0.59 x 0.039 inches, which is the equivalent of 11mm x 15mm x 1mm.

Also, the operating temperature is of -13 degrees F to 185 degrees F (-25 degrees C to 85 degrees C), while the storage temperature ranges from -40 degrees F to 185 degrees F (-40 degrees C to 85 degrees C).

What's more, Kingston has provided a variety of adapters, such as SD and miniSD, and this lets the newcomer be used in more than one type of consumer electronic.

"The need for additional portable storage has grown as the mobile phone has transitioned from a simple voice device to a powerful multifunctional tool which is used to email, listen to music, take photos and watch movies," said Mike Kuppinger, Flash card product manager, Kingston.

"Mobile phones are about more than just staying in touch as we also use them to take pictures at our kids' sporting events, shoot videos on vacation and post to social media sites. An extra 32GB of expandable memory takes these capabilities even further," Kuppinger added.

In addition to 32 GB, the Class 4 microSDHC, with a speed of 4 MB/s, also comes in 4 GB, 8 GB and 32 GB.

As for pricing, the 32 GB model can be bought for £96.25 / $153, for $153 when bundled with an SD adapter and, finally, for $159 when sold with two adapters or a card reader.
