Memory technology seems to have reached a point where it can more than keep up with the latest advancements in hardware and software, especially gaming applications. As such, RAM specialists often find that, besides pricing and advertising efforts, a defining factor in a product's marketing performance is its energy consumption. Seeing the emphasis that today's consumers place on green computing, Kingston has put special effort into making its memory solutions more efficient, efforts that have now taken the shape of the world's first ultra-low voltage memory product with a frequency of 1,600MHz.

The new dual channel memory kit from Kingston, set to become a part of the 'LoVo' (low voltage) HyperX DDR3 High-Performance memory product lineup, is capable of operating at no less that 1,600MHz on only 1.25 volts. To date, this is the lowest voltage achieved by desktop PC memory products. Not only that but the performance of the very same kit (part number KHX1866C9D3LK2/4GX) can be boosted to 1,866MHz if the voltage is increased to 1.35 volts. This, according to Kingston, is “also a world’s first for speed matching higher frequency with a lower voltage.”

“Kingston Technology is proud to lead the charge with memory for the new generation of energy efficient systems that yield higher performance,” said Mark Tekunoff, senior technology manager, Kingston. “Energy-conscious consumers need to look no further for memory than the HyperX ‘LoVo’ line when they are assembling the components needed to achieve better PC power performance.”

The 1.25V 1,600MHz HyperX dual channel kit will become Kingston's new flagship product and will be accompanied by two other Kingston HyperX DDR3 dual-channel products as part of the same 'LoVo' line. One is a mainstream low-voltage, 1.35V 1,600Mhz dual-profile kit and the other is a 1,333MHz, 1.25V kit. All three are aimed at eco-friendly personal computers and have already been tested on the Asus P7P55D EVO motherboard.

The KHX1866C9D3LK2/4GX 4GB kit of two can operate either at 1,600MHz, CL9-9-9-27 (at 1.25v) or 1,866Mhz, CL9-9-9-27 (at 1.35) and has a price tag of $203. Secondly, the KHX1600C9D3LK2/4GX with 4GB memory at 1600MHz (CL9-9-9-27 at 1.35v) is priced at $158. Finally, the 4GB, 1333MHz (CL9-9-9-27 at 1.25v) KHX1333C9D3UK2/4GX has a price tag of $154.

Full information on the company's complete product lineup may be found on the official website.
