USB 2.0 storage units with capacities of up to 32GB

Kingston unveiled a significant number of flash-based storage devices already, but there is always room for more, especially considering the unrelenting consumer desire for something new. In fact, the freshness factor sometimes outweighs performance in terms of product appeal, and the company was well aware of this when it designed the DataTraveler G3 series. This collection of portable and compact flash-based storage solutions includes models of multiple capacities, each with a distinctive color.

Recently, a significant number of flash drives with capless design were introduced. Apparently, Kingston thought they were many enough, so the G3 stuck to the 'usual' casing construction. The hardware maker also did not bother to use any odd materials and just settled for plastic when it made the casing. Even the size is quite convenient, at only 65.68 x 10.66 x 22.37 mm.

The company decided not to move too far ahead and left out USB 3.0 support in this case. This means that consumers won't benefit from the bandwidth of 5 Gbps. Still, said standard is not exactly widespread yet, so this cannot really be seen as a disadvantage. Either way, the drives can communicate via USB 2.0 ports, reading at up to 16 MB/s and writing at up to 5 MB/s. Finally, in order to address multiple consumer segments, the line covers a quite wide capacity range, from 2 GB to as high as 32 GB. All that storage space is somehow crammed inside an enclosure measuring 65.68 x 10.66 x 22.37 mm.

There are a total of five capacities that one may find in the Kingston DataTraveler G3, namely 2 GB, 4 GB, 8GB, 16 GB and 32 GB, and each color has a corresponding chassis color, namely orange, gray, yellow, blue and red. As for pricing, they go for 5.85 Euro, 7.11 Euro, 11.98 Euro, 25.42 Euro and 52.10 Euro, respectively.
