Kingston, one of the world's leading vendors of flash-based storage solutions, has recently announced the expansion of its DataTraveler family of USB Flash drives with the introduction of a new, higher-performance model, the DataTraveler 410. The new drive is expected to provide consumers with capacities of up to 32GB, while the read and write specifications include speeds of up to 20MB/s. In addition, the new drive also includes a password protection security feature, which enables customers to protect their files and keep data secure, while stored on the flash drive.

“Power users, enterprise customers and everyday consumers have wanted the ability to store and move large files around faster as USB Flash drives have become more prevalent in everyday use,” said Andrew Ewing, USB business manager, Kingston. “Based on customer feedback, we developed the DataTraveler 410 with higher data transfer rates and security in mind as well as a terrific price point.”

Designed to provide consumers with a choice for a 4GB, 8GB, 16GB or 32GB USB Flash drive, the new DataTraveler 410 achieves read and write speeds of up to 20MB/s, according to the flash memory vendor. This will allow users to store and back up files faster, in a more affordable package. In addition, thanks to a piece of security software, dubbed SecureTraveler, the DataTraveler 410 enables users to create and access a password-protected area of the drive, which has been suggestively titled “Privacy Zone.”

Starting at a price of US$26 for the 4GB version of Kingston's DataTraveler 410 drive, the new portable storage solution can prove an affordable way to back up and store personal data and digital content. The DataTraveler 410 series also offers a choice for a 32GB capacity, which is available for a manufacturer's suggested retail price tag of US$134.
