Kingston Technology has just announced the expansion of its SSD offering with the introduction of its new SSDNow V 'Value' Series, designed to provide mainstream users with an alternative choice for their system's storage solution. According to the company, one of the leaders in memory products, these new SSDs have been specifically designed to meet the requirements of mass-market consumers and small and medium businesses. In addition, Kingston also announced that its new V series would be available as part of a special bundle that will make the SSD transition easier on the end-user.

“The SSDNow V Series upgrade bundles are a terrific solution – given the current economy – for cost-conscious consumers who want an instant performance increase on an existing computer at a very reasonable price point,” said Ariel Perez, SSD business manager, Kingston. “We are trying to garner mass-market adoption of SSDs by bundling together all of the software, hardware and step-by-step instructions in a couple of low-cost options aimed squarely at everyday users. The V Series upgrade bundles are a perfect complement to our existing line of SSDNow products that target enterprise customers and prosumers.”

Although details about the new series have been made available since early this year, Kingston has been late to introduce the new products to the consumer market. However, the company took the opportunity presented by the Computex computer show in Taiwan to officially take the wraps off the new SSDs.

The Kingston SSDNow V Series is said to provide users with speeds of up to 100MB/s read and 80MB/s write, also featuring technologies such as S.M.A.R.T. The products will be available in capacities of 64GB and 128GB and a 2.5-inch form factor. According to Kingston, these new SSDs will provide users with a performance increase of 50% over existing 7200RPM and 5400RPM traditional hard drives.

The company's new V Series will be available as part of a bundle, which will include the following:

Kingston SSDNow V Series solid-state drive

Acronis True Image cloning software and CD installation guide

3.5" mounting brackets and hardware (desktop bundle only)

SATA data and power cable extenders (desktop bundle only)

2.5" USB SATA external enclosure (notebook bundle only)

Depending on capacity or bundle, the new SSDs from Kingston can cost as much as US$263 for the 128GB model and US$149 for the 64GB model.
