Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning has just reached a total of 410,000 units sold in the U.S. since its release in February, showing that all-new intellectual properties can still profit, even if overall videogame sales are on the decline.

Reckoning was a big project made by 38 Studios and Big Huge Games, in collaboration with Electronic Arts, which published the action role-playing game.

While many were impressed by its quality before release, there was still much doubt about whether or not it could be successful.

Right after its first month, we heard that over 330,000 units were sold and now, thanks to data from the NPD, via WPRI,we find that the game has reached a total of 410,000.

These units were sold just in the United States of America, however, and digital sales, like those made on PC services like Origin or Steam, weren’t taken into account.

Even so, Reckoning’s success should help not just the upcoming Kingdoms of Amalur MMO, which is already in development at 38 Studios, but also other new IPs that are struggling to succeed in the gaming business.
