It seems that the pretty impressive sales of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning haven’t improved the financial situation of its developer, 38 Studios, as its founder, Curt Schilling, has recently been called in by the governor of Rhode Island in order to discuss the company’s tax situation.

38 Studios, together with its subsidiary, Big Huge Games, is responsible for the very impressive Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning action RPG that appeared at the beginning of the year.

Despite being a whole new game, and not a sequel, it has sold around 410,000 copies in the U.S. and generated a fair amount of money for the developer, based in Rhode Island.

However, it seems that 38 Studios’ financial future isn’t so certain, so the state’s governor, Lincoln Chafee, has called in Curt Schilling, the developer’s founder, to discuss plans about taxes, according to TurnTo10.

No other details are known, but it seems that this has something to do with the $75 million (€58.47 million) that the state of Rhode Island offered 38 Studios to relocate from its previous Massachusetts headquarters in 2010.

Expect to hear more details about this situation in the near future. As of yet, 38 Studios’ current project is the Kingdoms of Amalur MMO, codenamed Copernicus.
