Korean massively multiplayer online game Kingdom Under Fire 2, a strange game merging real-time strategy with role-playing game elements, has just gotten its official PlayStation 4 trailer.

The game is a brand-new action strategy game in which players assume control of both the player avatar as well as an army at the same time.

The free-to-play massively multiplayer online game offers the player the chance to evolve from a nameless mercenary to the ultimate ruler of the world, gradually gaining power by winning massive scale battles.

The game also supports multiplayer, which means that you are not alone on the huge battlefield, and you can employ help from your friends.

"We've developed Kingdom Under Fire II as a successor to previous games in both story and gameplay. Basic troop strategy and action strategy play like the two former games. Furthermore, we developed the gameplay elements so players can focus more on action strategy," says Sang Youn Lee, producer and director of Kingdom Under Fire 2.

The events of the upcoming game take place 120 years after the story of Kingdom Under Fire: Crusaders, and are set in the same place, the vast continent of Bersia.

Players of the previous titles in the series will no doubt see that many things have changed over the course of the 120 years that have passed. Regnier, the powerful hero of Kingdom Under Fire: Crusaders, has now disappeared, all that is left of him being his legend.

Encablossa, the God of Darkness, has sent a mysterious evil incarnation named Celes, in order to destroy the current Age of Light and recreate the Age of Darkness in Bersia.

The biggest difference between Kingdom Under Fire 2 and its predecessors is the game's scale, as former games featured simplistic troop deployment and strategy, while KUF2 aims to deliver an immersive strategic experience, where heroes can use powerful actions and hundreds of weapon types, not to mention a wide variety of troops, each one with its own specialized strategic function.

For now, there are three main heroes in development, the Berserker, Gunslinger and Spellsword, each one with his strengths and weaknesses and particular playing style.

The Berserker is a master of melee combat, wielding a huge and deadly bastard sword. The Gunslinger is a rather technical hero, employing a sword and a gun on the playing field, with powerful control options over his troops. The Spellsword is a weak stamina character, but he makes up for it with his huge arsenal of magical attacks.

The game is slated for a late 2014 release and is coming to the PC and PlayStation 4 platforms.
