Kingdom Hearts is a franchise built on a mix of classic Disney characters and Japanese role-playing game mechanics and the development team at Square Enix says that it would like to include new faces coming from the Marvel Universe and Star Wars.

Tetsuya Nomura, the creator of the series, is quoted by VG247 as saying that, “But there are lots of rules and restrictions by Disney so we can’t actually put in everything people want. So it’s a quite difficult decision but we’re gonna prepare some surprises for you so, just wait for the information.”

Disney has acquired the rights for both Marvel and Star Wars recently.

At the moment, the only video game company linked to Star Wars is Electronic Arts, with titles in development at DICE, Visceral and BioWare.
