The role-playing game will offer an authentic, realistic medieval experience, with period-accurate combat

Czech developer Warhorse Studios released a fresh batch of screenshots for the upcoming Kingdom Come: Deliverance, showing some impressive and very realistic visuals.

The new images show a peaceful village and forest setting, and look almost as realistic as to be confused with someone's holiday snaps.

The first-person role-playing game is a very ambitious project that aims to offer an authentic medieval experience, without any of the magical nonsense other video game developers have accustomed us with.

It's not a fantasy game, but instead grounded in the reality of the era, based mainly on the lives of regular European people, and offering a sprawling world to adventure in.

However, the lack of dragons and preternatural monsters to fight doesn't mean that the game will be boring, not by a long stretch.

Warhorse Studios set out to create tons of in-depth mechanics, starting from being able to wear sixteen different clothing items, with each one distinctly visible on your character, to having combat take place in a very realistic manner, where you actually have to hit your enemy in an unprotected spot on his body in order to inflict damage.

A very ambitious undertaking

But period-accurate melee combat and armor that actually protects you, and is more than just a number in a formula, are not the only things the game boasts. Being a thief, for example, will be an experience entirely different from anything that has ever been done in video games, as there will be multiple types of doors to tackle, and even several lock types.

The developers have modeled areas of the game using real-world footage and historical sites, and managed to capture the rustic feel of the countryside, as evidenced by the latest released images.

You can check out the screenshot gallery below and the latest developer diary, from April, to learn more about the complexity of the project.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is expected out sometime during the summer of 2016.
