A new trailer suggests that King of Fighters XIII is being prepared for launch via the Steam digital distribution service, with a special edition that will apparently include new content for fans of the series.

The video shows gameplay footage, which looks fast and complex, as well as a logo that clearly states King of Fighters XIII Steam Edition.

The game was created by SNK Playmore and was first launched in arcade cabinets across the world before being ported to the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 in 2011.

The game offers a 2D fighting title experience that’s focused on solid knowledge of combatants and stages and on good use of combos.

The fighting game genre is in a consolidation phase at the moment, with series like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter currently suspended, which might give King of Fighters XIII an opening to capture a solid fan base.
