The “King of Blues” has died: famous guitarist B.B. King passed away at his home in Las Vegas, in his sleep, his attorney confirms for the media, Gossip Cop reports. He was 89 years old.

A couple of weeks ago, King was rushed to the hospital for complications from his diabetes, after his children noticed that he wasn’t eating anymore. He recovered quickly and went back home, but his name continued to make headlines when his children accused his longtime manager of elder abuse.

According to them, Laverne Toney had also swindled more than $20 million (€17.5 million) from his client, taking advantage of his condition as an old and sick man.

It is not known whether King’s death is linked to his recent hospitalization, but a statement from the singer’s camp might set the record straight on that, when it comes.

Inducted in the Rock and Hall of Fame in 1987, B.B. King had a very long and successful career, making music that inspired generations to come, mostly with his partner Lucille, which is the name he gave to his black Gibson guitar.

Lucille’s story can be heard on the track of the same name, available below.

King won 15 Grammys, was awarded the Kennedy Center Honor and the President Medal of Freedom, and was named by Rolling Stone the third best guitarist in the world of all time, after Jimi Hendrix and Duane Allman. He was also a Blues Foundation Hall of Fame inductee.

He may be gone, but his legacy will live on forever. Rest in peace, King of Blues.
