1C Company and Katauri Interactive announce having released a new patch, version 1.7, for their role playing title King's Bounty. You can get the patch from Softpedia.

Version 1.7 doesn't change anything fundamental in the game. The big problem tackled is the crashes which plagued players that used the FX 5xxx series video cards. The developers say that this will no longer happen, although some crashes, unrelated to the video card, might still appear.

A few abilities have been tweaked to work as intended. Holy Anger no longer affects demons and the undead in the army of the player, while Danging Axes takes into account damage delivered as far as the healing portion of the spell is concerned. The Emerald Dragon now has immunity from Mind spells and is a tougher enemy.

I've reviewed King's Bounty: The Legend and it's quite an enjoyable experience. The adventure mode is standard role playing fare but the game really shines when it comes to the tactical battles, which play out in turns and are pretty similar to the early Heroes of Might and Magic games. The Chest of Rage mechanics really add to the title, the game world is interesting and there's a lot of humor. The only real issue one can find with the game is that it can be punishing hard at times, especially in the final portion.

Katauri Interactive also announced planning to release an expansion for King's Bounty, which would focus on the adventures of Princess Amelie who is only a kid in the first game. Features will include a pet dragon that will replace the Chest of Rage, bosses that you can fight and a whole fresh race with a new set of creatures. The Armored Princess expansion is set to be released sometime in the first half of 2009.
