1C Company, as developer, and Atari, as publisher, are announcing that players can now get their hands on the 1.6.5 patch for King's Bounty: The Legend, a role playing game set in a fantasy world based on the old classic which inspired the Heroes of Might and Magic series. The patch boasts a huge array of improvements, fixes and small tweaks.

First of all, the most frequently occurring crashes are fixed. I, myself, was annoyed by the numerous times it crashed on me while I was loading a game, twice corrupting my save game. This has been taken care of, just as the problems which existed with FX5xxx series video cards. Sorting your inventory and moving objects to and from the slots of the wife should also be more stable.

There are a lot of changes related to spell duration, spell effects and initiative queues on the battlefield which should make the life of the player a bit easier. The overall aim of the patch is to provide players with a better game experience while making sure not to introduce any new show stopping bug.

King's Bounty: The Legend is probably the most interesting role playing game of the year and might show up on quite a few of Game of the Year lists in a couple of months. The fantasy universe it depicts is pretty standard, with humans, dwarfs, elves, dragons and mages ready to be hired by the hero as he tries to solve the problems that plague a human kingdom. The adventuring is well put together and the battles play out on a turn based tactical map where creatures fight while the hero can cast spells and use the Spirits of Rage in order to gain the upper hand. The game is very accessible and has a light and funny tone which makes it very engaging.
