Video game publisher Microsoft and developer Rare have announced that they have launched the Challenge Pack #1 content update for Kinect Sports: Season Two, the game which is supposed to highlight the potential of the Kinect motion tracking system for the Xbox 360 home console.
The new content is being sponsored by Braun and can be downloaded for free by all those interested from the Xbox Live Marketplace service.
There are six new sports included in the Challenge Pack:
- Darts: Smart Shot – allows the player to use his brain and his throwing arm at the same time and see how good his coordination is and includes against the clock and mathematical puzzle challenges.:
- Golf: Champion Chip – the game includes a number of different surfaces, distances and natural obstacles that make the simple chip shot more and more challenging:
- Skiing: Cool Ringings – mascots will need to be dodged and cowbells rung as the player goes downhill with frightening speed on five varied courses;.
- Tennis: Rapid Returner – a number of mascots will be firing ever more powerful shots at the player, who must return them using forehand, backhand, net and baseline shots;
- Baseball: Frantic Fielder – this is a simple game of catch spiced up by the inclusion of mascots that test hand eye coordination and reflex speed;
- American Football: Crazy Kicker – players will tackle challenges like making a 40 yards field goal, factoring in wind and distance before making the kick.
Microsoft is saying that it will be launching new add-ons for Kinect Sports: Season Two every month until spring 2012, introducing new events and sports, although it is not clear whether all the content will be free.
Kinect has managed to sell more than 10 million units since it was introduced in late 2010 and the Sports games have been some of the more successful for them.
