Simon Woodroffe, a producer working on Kinect Sports Rivals, says that he wants the upcoming Xbox One title to be one of the first that players buy for the hardware, even a few years after it is launched.

He says that his team has extensive plans to deliver updates and downloadable content that will expand the scope of the game and will give players ways to play with friends and strangers.

The developer is quoted by NeoGAF as saying that, “we hope that this is the sort of game that's still one of the first things that anyone who buys an Xbox One gets even two or three years from now. Sort of like Wii Sports and Mario Kart for the Wii.”

Woodroffe believes that the graphics of Kinect Sports Rivals are also well suited to long-term sales because they use the power of the Xbox One, but also have a clear and unique style.

The game has been delayed to 2014 and will be offered only on the Microsoft next-gen console.
