The team at Microsoft in charge of the Xbox One has announced that it will introduce a Kinect-less version of the next-gen home consoles, which will be offered starting on June 9 for the price of 399 dollars or Euro.

The official blog post on the Xbox Wire explains that the choice was made in order to make sure that the company delivers all the options that gamers are expecting from it.

Microsoft explains that, “To be clear, as we introduce this new Xbox One console option, Kinect remains an important part of our vision. Many of you are using Kinect for Xbox One every day. In fact, more than 80 percent of you are actively using Kinect, with an average of 120 voice commands per month on each console.”

A cheaper Xbox One might become a solid long-term proposition for the company and might revive sales of the device, which have been lagging behind those of the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

Microsoft is also introducing a standalone Kinect sensor for the device later during the fall of this year, although no price has yet been announced.

It will be interesting to see whether the Xbox One will see a boost in sales after the launch of this new version of the platform.
