Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless and Amazon.com have just announced that the operator's Android subscribers can enjoy an enhanced Kindle reading experience on their handsets. Kindle for Android, the mobile app that offers access to the Kindle Store, along with other features, should be easily found on the application screen of Verizon Android devices.

According to Verizon, the owners of a Samsung Fascinate should enjoy the new feature on the 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display of the device, and the same applies to DROID 2 by Motorola and DROID X by Motorola users.

With Kindle for Android, Android users get access to a number of more than 700,000 books available in the Kindle Store, being able to browse, download and start reading them straight from their Android-based devices.

Some of the main features the Kindle app for Android comes with include:

- Buy Once, Read Everywhere – Amazon’s Whispersync technology syncs your bookmark across devices, so you can pick up where you left off. - With Kindle Worry-Free Archive, books purchased from the Kindle Store are automatically backed up online, where they can be re-downloaded at any time. - The largest selection of books people want to read. The U.S. Kindle Store now has more than 700,000 books, including New Releases and 107 of 111 New York Times Bestsellers. Over 575,000 of these books are $9.99 or less, including 80 New York Times Bestsellers. According to Verizon Wireless, the new application should offer an improved experience to Android users, straight from their handsets.

The large screens Verizon's Android devices sport should prove a great option when it comes to reading books from Amazon's stores.

“We’re very excited to bring Kindle for Android directly to Verizon Wireless customers,” said Jennifer Byrne, executive director, business development and partnerships for Verizon Wireless.

“Our smartphones come with great screens that make buying and reading books simple and easy, and Amazon’s commitment to reading and offering a seamless customer experience is directly in line with what our customers want.”

Undoubtedly, Kindle for Android has already become a very popular application, and Verizon Wireless users should also find it a highly appealing software solution.

“We are thrilled to be working with such an innovative company as Verizon Wireless and are excited to have Kindle for Android on these three phones and on other devices down the road,” Dave Limp, vice president, Kindle, stated.

Those interested in downloading and installing the Kindle application on their devices should be able to find it available via the Android Market.
