Australian customers who don’t want to use virtual means to order and pay for their Kindle Paperwhites, will be pleased to know that the eReader will be coming to local brick and mortar retail chains like Big W and Dick Smith, says CNET Australia.

Amazon Kindle VP Neil Lindsay made the announcement himself.

“Kindle is the best-selling e-reader in the world for six years running, and now it’s even better. The new Kindle Paperwhite has brand-new display technology, the next generation of our built-in-light, a faster processor, plus new features like Kindle Page Flip, Smart Lookup, Vocabulary Builder and more. We’re excited to make it even easier for our Australian customers to discover Kindle.”

Amazon has slipped in an innovative display technology with this model called Carta and has equipped the device with an improved, 1GHz processor. The 19% tighter touch grid will allow digital readers to better control what’s happening on the screen.

Goodreads has become an integral part of the Kindle Paperwhite and users will be able to access their accounts right from the eReader. The new Page Flip technology allows to quickly browse content without leaving the page you are stationed on.

The Kindle Paperwhite will become available to grab for AU$159 / $153 / €112 while the Wi-Fi and 3G will be costing AU$229 / $221 / €161.
