After discounting the 7-inch variant of its Kindle Fire HD tablets in September, Amazon is now moving on to its larger brother, the 8.9-inch model.

Indian customers eyeing this version of the Kindle Fire HD, can now purchase the 16GB model for Rs. 17,999 / $289 / €213 while the 32GB currently sells for Rs. 21,999 / $354 / €260.

Back when it was first launched in the country in June, the 16GB version sold for Rs 21,999 / $354 / €261 while the 32GB was available for Rs. 25,999 / $418 / €308.

As a memory refresh, the Kindle Fire HD features an 8.9-inch display with a lush resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. Amazon has slipped in a 1.5GHz dual-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. The device offers an impressive battery life of up to 10 hours of intense use.

On top of that, there’s Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and embedded Dolby Audio technology. The only downside of the tablet might be the presence of Amazon’s own customized Fire OS, so users don’t have access to the Google Play Store, but to Amazon’s own App Store.
