Someone is going to get fired on this one for sure. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's plans for a French wedding in May have been seriously hit below the belt by a technicality. According to French laws, if you want to get married in-country, at least one of the parties has to have a minimum 40-day residency.

Radar has uncovered this big snafu that is threatening to put the wedding at least on a big hold, if not canceled altogether. They claim that local laws stipulate a minimum of 40 days are required to be spent in France by at least one member of the couple before a wedding ceremony can be lawfully performed.

If the rumors are true, The Kim and Kanye wedding that has been kept under wraps for so long and is promising to be the social event of the year, has been programmed on May 24. That means that that either Kim or Kanye has just a few days left before one of the them has to move to France and spend the rest of the time until the wedding in the country.

According to the French Embassy in the US, “All marriages must be performed by a French civil authority before any religious ceremony takes place. The mayor can authorize the deputy mayor or a city councilor to perform the ceremony in the town in which one of the parties to be married has resided for at least 40 days preceding the marriage.”

The best part? The Embassy warns that “These requirements can not be waived,” meaning that Kim and Kanye will have to conform because not even their celebrity status is going to get them out of this one.

The problem is that both Kim and Kanye are jet-setters, making their business all over the world, so it's very hard to get tied down in the same place for over a month. Just last week Kim had to fly out to Thailand with her family to film the upcoming season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

At the moment, it looks like Kanye is going to be the one that is going to be temporarily moving to France in order to accommodate the local laws. He does own an apartment there, but only lives there when he visits France.

This could be the reason why Kanye has abruptly canceled his Australian tour, claiming that he needs some time to focus on working in the studio. If we're betting money, it's very likely that the studio in question is going to be in France.

Let's hope that this is the last oversight in terms of wedding plans, otherwise these two are going to find out that their wedding is not legal in the United States or something similar, in which case, all those expensive preparations are all going to go down the drain.

Also, mental note for Kim and Kanye: Paris is not Vegas!
