Kim Kardashian and Kanye West tied the knot this weekend in a gorgeous and, according to reports, very emotional ceremony held at a castle in Florence, Italy. Before that, they partied in style for a couple of days in Paris, France, even hosting the rehearsal dinner at the Palace of Versailles.

It was preceded by a lunch at Valentino’s estate, we should note. The estimated cost of the entire wedding weekend is of $20 million (€14.65 million), including countless outfit changes for Kim and the entire Kardashian clan, being driven away from the wedding in royal-style carriage, and the biggest wedding cake we have ever seen.

For this kind of money, you would expect the wedding to have been an A-list event. In fact, knowing Kim and how badly she must have wanted to have the “wedding of the year” (she was even hoping for “wedding of the century,” according to reports), it must hurt to know she’s barely made it to the D-list.

First off, two of the guests she was counting on, Beyonce and Jay Z, decided to skip the brouhaha and media circus and spend the Memorial Day weekend in the Hamptons instead, just the two of them and their daughter Blue Ivy.

Anna Wintour, the Vogue editor-in-chief and one of Kim’s newest BFFs, also skipped the festivities. To make up, she will probably run a few photos of the bride and groom in an upcoming edition of the magazine.

The biggest names at the wedding (we’re not including here Lana Del Rey because she was paid a fortune to perform at the dinner rehearsal, so she wasn’t technically invited) were John Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, tennis pro Serena Williams, and film director Steve McQueen. Legend performed at the reception, so chances are he was paid too.

Other “high profile” guests were actually friends of Kim’s that are often featured on the family’s reality show, like Malika Haqq, Brittny Gastineau, and La La Anthony. Jaden Smith, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith’s son, was also there, presumably because he’s dating Kylie Jenner, Kim’s half-sister.

Radar Online compares the guestlist from the Kimye wedding to another huge celebrity ceremony that also took place in Italy, uniting Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes as husband and wife. The Kimye nuptials pale by comparison.

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, Victoria and David Beckham, Jim Carrey, Brooke Shields, John Travolta and Kelly Preston, and Kirstie Alley attended the TomKat wedding.

Even Jimmy Kimmel’s big day was more star-studded than Kim’s, including guests like good pal Matt Damon, Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi, and Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard.

Seeing how Kanye is one of the biggest names in rap music these days (not to mention his pretty successful career as a fashion designer), you’d expect bigger stars to show up on his wedding day. We’re just speculating here, but it could be that all his friends opted to be out of the wedding because Kim had reality TV cameras around and they didn’t want to be featured on her show – like Bey and Jay did. Allegedly, of course.
