Kim Kardashian has angered many of her loyal fans (and not only), after saying in an interview to Elle magazine that, now that she got to experience what it’s like to be pregnant and famous, her recommendation to all other pregnant women would be to never leave the house while with child.

Kim and husband Kanye West have a 1-year-old daughter together, North. When Kim was pregnant with her, because she always seemed to wear clothes 2 sizes too small and high heels, appearing to be constantly uncomfortable in her carefully planned outfits, she would often be criticized for her choices, as well as for the fact that she continued to wear Spanx.

Kim called that bullying and said that people only picked on her because she’d gained weight.

This probably explains why she’d tell Elle magazine this: “I recommend hiding for a good year and having no pregnancy style. That’s what I recommend. If you can do it, hide. Never leave the house.”

When sister Khloe, who was also taking part in the interview with Kourtney, points out to Kim that this is the least practical answer she could ever come up with, she stands by it. “That’s really my recommendation. Wear a huge blanket,” Kim says.

She makes it sound as if she was so traumatized by what people were saying about her ill-advised maternity style (criticism directed at her was not really weight-centered, no matter how much she states the contrary), that she would urge future moms to avoid the pain by just staying indoors. Or, you know, if they do get out, they might as well wear a tent to hide their body.

As you can imagine, reaction to the interview was instantaneous and not at all favorable to Kim. A pregnant body is nothing to be ashamed of, so her piece of “advice” is only enforcing the idea that it is because she’s telling women they should hide for the entire duration of the pregnancy.

The curvaceous reality star was so flooded with criticism for her answer that she was eventually forced to go online on Twitter to explain herself: apparently, we’ve been missing the whole point of the interview.

“I guess you can't be sarcastic when doing interviews! I was asked about tips on pregnancy style. I jokingly said pregnant woman should hide/stay in if they looked like I did lol. I really should start video taping the interviews I do & post on my website so u can see the laughs & how it's really said,” Kim writes.

That may very well have been the case, she could have been joking, but we’ll never know because there is no video to prove it.

Kim doesn’t say anything about another comment she made that’s also being ridiculed online right now, on how North, at 1, was so fashionable she absolutely abhorred pink and prints, the kind you see on most little girls her age. She would not even give in to Khloe and Kourtney telling her that it was she and Kanye who hated them, and who dressed North in creams and whites and blacks.
