Kim Kardashian may have tried to play it cool when Jon Hamm called her an “idiot” in the press, but her good friend Jonathan Cheban isn't ready to let this go just yet. Proof is his latest talk with Us Weekly.

A few days ago, critically acclaimed actor Jon Hamm commented on the state of our culture and how basically anyone willing to expose themselves in public could become a “celebrity.”

In doing so, he offered the case of Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton as examples, both having made a fortune off scandals and reality shows.

Kim responded by saying that everyone was entitled to their opinion, but stressing that she believed there should be more “respect” between the players in the industry, namely between Hamm and herself.

Cheban isn't as diplomatic. In fact, he suggests that Hamm shouldn't even be the one to talk because he has nothing on Kim, one of the most popular – therefore valuable – reality stars of our times.

“I think Jon Hamm needs to just shut up and stop being such a mad man! He needs to mind his own business, because Kim works hard,” Cheban says, speaking to the aforementioned celebrity magazine about the recent spat.

“They do different things – it's a whole different world. Put Jon Hamm in a mall, and more people will go up to the people working at the Burger King than they will to him. Bring Kim to a mall and there will be a riot,” he says.

They're different and shouldn't be compared, he further stresses. Cheban also adds that he believes Hamm won't even be around for much longer after “Mad Men” stars, though he doesn't say on what he bases such an assumption.

“They're in two different businesses. Kim's pop culture and what people like. It's a lot of work, and she's here to stay. Let's see where he is after Mad Men,” Cheban bites back.

Hamm hasn't yet responded to Cheban's harsh words and, knowing him, he probably won't. He's already made it clear that he wasn't dissing Kim personally in his comments, but rather our society and culture.
