Being a celebrity hounded by the paparazzi puts Kim Kardashian and Kanye West in a delicate position when it comes to the privacy of their young daughter North. Though they get paid to make public appearances and basically just stand there and look pretty, they are keen to keep North out of the spotlight.

Easier said than done, which is why the newly married couple is now taking drastic measures and going to extra lengths in order to give North the privacy she needs. Britain's Grazia Magazine quotes an insider who claims the couple have already spent in excess of half a million dollars for North by hiring her a body double.

The insider told the magazine that “Kim and Kanye hired the lookalike to shield North from the paparazzi. There were auditions held in LA at a specialist agency and in the end they found a child who is the spitting image of their daughter.”

The more interesting part is that Kim and Kanye have also hired a body double for the nanny, just to make sure that the paparazzi can't tell the difference. Adds the insider, “They also hired a body-double nanny, who they hope will really throw paps off the scent.”

North isn't the first celebrity baby to have her very own body double, despite her tender age of 13 months. That honor falls to Suri Cruise, the famous daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, who hired a decoy to keep their bundle of joy safe from abduction.

At the time, the actor was said to have met with risk analysts and abduction experts who advised on the best path to take to avoid negative impacts on the publicity his daughter was enjoying. The conclusion was that a Suri lookalike was needed to throw people off track from the real Suri.

You don't need to be a master criminal to realize that celebrities would pay large sums of cash in the unfortunate event that their offspring would be abducted and ransomed for money.

That is why A-listers are choosing to keep their children out of the spotlight, but since Kim and Kanye can't stay away from all the attention, they're looking for alternate methods of protecting their daughter.

Ever since he's become a married man, Kanye has taken a much bigger role in providing a safe environment for his family, especially for his young daughter, even forbidding Kim to feature her on her reality series “Keeping up with the Kardashians.”
