Even though Kim Kardashian's divorce from Kris Humphries is no longer news, the specifics of their relationship and, above all, their 72-marriage, continue to fascinate. Fresh reports suggest that not even the proposal was legit.

To those believing that reality shows are “real” by any stretch of the imagination and, specifically, those thinking any of the Kardashians shows are not scripted, this may come as a shock.

Humphries is telling friends that the entire “surprise” proposal he had prepared for her – and which was shown in great detail on the reality show – had actually been orchestrated by Kim herself, Radar Online reports.

In other words, Kim told him when and how to propose, and all she had to do afterwards was act surprised, as if all this had been going on behind her back and she didn't even suspect it.

“Kim told Kris how, where and when to propose, it was absolutely no surprise to her whatsoever,” a spy close to Kris says for Radar.

Admittedly, he wanted to ask for her hand in marriage in his hometown in Minnesota, in a more intimate setting and, most importantly, without TV cameras around.

His plans were thwarted when Kim came to him and instructed him on how things would go down.

“First of all, Kris proposed in the middle of the day, and he had to do that because it would create better lighting to capture the moment. Kim looked so surprised but she knew it was happening,” the spy explains.

“She was in full hair and make-up, as she always is on the show. Kris wanted it to be very intimate and romantic, but all of his ideas were shot down by production officials and Kim,” adds the insider.

“Kim told him the paparazzi would ruin the special moment if it were to take place in a public setting, like the beach, which he had also considered. How romantic could it be with three camera crews?” asks the unnamed tipster.

Considering that Kim is believed to have planned an entire wedding just to make a fortune off it, it's no surprise to hear she might have staged the proposal for ratings too.
