14 DAY TRIAL // Kim Kardashian is working hard to maintain her image, which is arguably her main source of income. As such, she can't have tabloid reports ruin it with claims that she's a pill popper – so she's planning to sue.
As we also informed you earlier this week, rumors started making the rounds online that Kim was hiding a “terrible secret”: admittedly, she was popping pills on a regular basis and was already addicted to them.
The story originated in an Australian tabloid called NW, and was picked up by glossies in the US and abroad as well.
It also claimed that Kim's sister Khloe had found out her secret and had urged her to go to rehab, or face the music, because she planned to tell their mom Kris.
TMZ is now reporting that Kim is gearing up for a legal battle, determined not to have such false rumors circulate in the blogosphere and the press.
“Kim Kardashian is telling friends she's totally klean... and God help the tabloids that say she's a pill popper,” the celebrity e-zine reports.
Kim is particularly upset because she leads a squeaky clean life: she doesn't do drugs or doesn't even touch alcohol.
“Our Kardashian sources tell us Kim is furious over a report in an Australian mag claiming she takes Valium and sleeping pills in dangerous amounts, and the family is alarmed. Based on what we're told, it appears Kim is not only Rx free, but she barely touches alcohol,” TMZ explains.
“We've learned Kim has summoned her lawyers, who are about to fire off letters to the media outlets that report or pick up the Australian story... saying they'll do so at their own peril,” notes the same media outlet.
Kim Kardashian is currently in Cannes for the Film Festival, where she's supporting boyfriend Kanye West, who has just premiered his latest project there.
