The MET Gala 2013 is probably not the red carpet ceremony that Kim Kardashian remembers most fondly, especially considering that her floral Givenchy gown even led to the creation of a series of most humiliating memes. She more than made up for that last night, at the 2014 edition.

The Costume Institute Gala Benefit 2014 was held at Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and saw a fabulous turnout of designers and celebrities from all domains of showbiz, from music to television and feature films.

All wore creations keeping with the theme of the evening, which celebrated the opening of the Charles James: Beyond Fashion exhibit. Co-chairs for the event included Vogue’s Anna Wintour, Bradley Cooper, and ultimate fashion icon Sarah Jessica Parker, among others.

Kim Kardashian, allegedly free of Wintour’s ban to attend the event, which was supposedly lifted before last year’s ball, showed up at the event with rapper fiancé Kanye West. They both wore Lanvin, with Kim looking regal in a strapless dark blue gown with black details, and jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz, her favorite jewelry designer, who also created her huge engagement ring at Kanye’s behest.

The blue Lanvin dress also had a high slit, which allowed Kim to strike a pose known as “The Angelina,” named after Jolie after an Oscars red carpet, when she flashed a lot of leg thanks to a similarly high side slit.

Kim wore her hair to the side in a very retro and classy fashion, with one giant diamond earring on display. Our only complaint with Kim’s outfit is that the Lanvin gown had pockets, which Kim insisted on putting to good use on the red carpet.

As if that weren’t enough to add volume to her hip area, the gown also had creases under the waistline, which made her already famous curves look even more prominent. Knowing Kim and how proud she is of the weight she lost after she gave birth to her daughter with Kanye, North West, we doubt she purposefully tried to make herself look heavier in the hips.

A better fitted design would have done wonders on her famous figure.

Meanwhile, Kanye looked cool in a Lanvin tux with silk Tails and a white piqué vest. As you can see from the photo above, he only seemed to have eyes on the red carpet for his fiancé, a feeling she reciprocated.
