Whatever Kim Kardashian does is bound to grab headlines, so it's probably no wonder she managed to get media attention for an offense she never meant to cause. The star has apologized for saying that Indian food is “disgusting,” stressing that it's only a matter of taste.

One of the most recent episodes of Kim's reality series shows her going out for a grab to eat and turning down the suggestion to get Indian food because she finds it “disgusting.”

Reaction to her off-handed remark was instantaneous and very harsh, especially on Twitter, Us Weekly reports.

Many chose to take offense at it, branding Kim a racist and a hater, someone who discards an entire culture based on her very limited experience with it.

In a post on her official blog, titled “Just Want to Clear Something Up,” Kim explains her comment, apologizes to those who felt offended by it but stresses she is in her own right to have an opinion based on her personal taste.

“In NO way was [my comment] intended as an insult to the Indian people or their culture. This is just my own personal taste,” the reality star writes.

“There are a lot of foods I don’t like... I hate cilantro and peppers, and there are definitely some Armenian foods that I personally find disgusting, but that doesn’t reflect my opinions on other Armenian people or my culture,” Kim further explains.

Her intention wasn't to offend and most definitely not to generalize. She was just expressing a culinary preference.

“My comment wasn’t intended to offend anybody. We all have our own opinions and tastes and I was simply expressing mine,” Kim explains.

No word yet on whether those who found the comment offensive were appeased or convinced by Kim's explanation, but many celebrity bloggers agree with her on this one: she was in her right to express a preference in cuisine.
