14 DAY TRIAL // They said they wouldn’t last, but Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are apparently stronger than ever. While their romance is definitely blooming, Kanye’s career has taken a turn for the worse and, according to a new report, Kim’s to blame for it.
Being so close to a reality star and always making an appearance on her reality show is totally doing away with Kanye’s street cred, the New York Daily News argues, citing industry people with access to figures that would apparently confirm this.
His music is no longer selling, as neither are his shows, he’s almost a persona non grata in the fashion world, and he’s no longer the respectable rapper he was once – and it’s all because of his association with Kim.
Being her boyfriend and being in the weeklies all the time, not to mention on her reality show whenever he’s around, is very bad for the Kanye brand, the report argues.
“A source tells Confidenti@l that West’s popularity is waning and he has become tainted, with too many appearances on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, pictures in the celebrity weeklies and a girlfriend unwelcome in the world of high fashion,” the NY Daily News says.
“Once gracing the pages of VMAN and GQ, his face is now splattered all over whatever Kardashian is promoting,” adds the publication.
Kanye’s music is no longer what it was before he started seeing Kim.
“His personal life is overpowering his music. Every time he plays, people are wondering if Kim is going to be there. It’s not a good thing for him, especially if he wants to be taken seriously,” an insider says.
Kanye was approached to perform on New Year’s Eve, but all offers included the condition that he bring along Kim with him, which reportedly angered him so much that he would not even consider them.
As another tipster puts it, even Kanye has realized that something has to change because he can’t keep going like this.
“He has been meeting with top-level music executives seeking advice. He’s not happy with the direction things have been going,” the source says.
