In light of her decision to divorce Kris Humphries, Kim Kardashian is dealing with too much drama. Not only does she have to deal with the heartbreak that comes with breaking up, but she also has to defend herself from those saying she only married Kris to boost interest in her reality show.

To address the countless rumors now making the rounds on the real reason she filed for divorce the other day, Kim has penned an open letter to fans, which she then posted on her official webpage.

She begins by expressing her gratitude for the support she's been getting from loyal fans, but also the sorrow she feels whenever she reads negative reports about her marriage, such as how she only got married for her reality show.

“First and foremost, I married for love. I can’t believe I even have to defend this. I would not have spent so much time on something just for a TV show! I share so much of my life on a reality show, that contemplating whether to even film my wedding was a tough decision to make, and maybe it turned out to not be the smartest decision,” Kim writes.

“But it’s who I am! We filmed Kourtney giving birth, Khloe getting married, break ups, make ups, our best moments and our worst moments. These were all real moments. That’s what makes us who we are. We share, we give, we love and we are open!” she adds.

As for why her marriage lasted only 72 days, Kim believes it all comes down to her being a hopeless romantic.

In love with the idea of love, she realized a long time ago that things weren't working out with Kris but she still believed they would improve in time, she says.

When it became clear to her that they wouldn't, she was so afraid to let people down that she denied to herself the truth and stayed on in the relationship.

“I believed in love and the dream of what I wanted so badly. I felt like I was on a fast roller coaster and couldn’t get off when now I know I probably should have,” Kim writes.

“I got caught up with the hoopla and the filming of the TV show that when I probably should have ended my relationship, I didn’t know how to and didn’t want to disappoint a lot of people,” she adds.

One last point that Kim clarifies: she didn't marry for money, as in, she didn't marry to make money off the wedding.

Reports may say she and Kris banked an estimated $17 million (€12.3 million) on the wedding in profit and didn't pay a dime to organize it, but none of that is true.

“There are also reports that I made millions of dollars off of the wedding. These reports are simply not true and it makes me so sad to have to even clarify this,” the reality star writes.

Kim Kardashian won't return the wedding gifts she got on her big day with Kris Humphries – instead, she will donate $200,000 (€145,751) to the Dream Foundation.
