Earlier this month, Kim Kardashian traveled to earthquake-devastated Haiti for charity work. The National Enquirer and several other tabloids claimed she was there just for fun, a claim that Kim is now bitterly denying on her official blog page. The reality star went to Haiti with her mother, visiting various women's centers and getting involved in a series of activities meant to help the people in the country hope for a better life.
The Enquirer though reported that, while there, she put up at the fanciest hotels and divided her time between attending fashion shows and pampering herself.
A furious Kim is writing on her blog that, while she should not be defending herself because her actions speak louder than words, she's doing it because she wants others to get involved as well, following her example.
“While my experience was completely life-changing… a very emotional and surprisingly positive journey that I will never forget, some media outlets have tried to tarnish the motive behind my visit and have written completely ridiculous and untrue things,” Kim writes.
“The National Enquirer wrote that I went to a fashion show in Haiti and then spent a fortune pampering myself!” she goes on to say.
“The truth is that I was at the Haitian Artisan Fair, where the amazing men and women who make their jewelry and crafts sell them to visitors to make a living, and I bought some of their beautiful jewelry after the fashion show!! Reading this made me so disappointed in the media,” Kim further notes.
She also says that, while she normally lets all rumors and speculation about her personal life slide by because she doesn't believe it worth her time, in this particular case, she wants to speak up.
“When a magazine makes the decision to twist the truth and write lies like that, it belittles the entire experience we had in Haiti, and I won’t let them do that,” Kim says.
She ends the post by promising her loyal fans a full presentation of everything she did in Haiti, complete with photos and inspirational stories.
