Her book of selfies, “Selfish,” will be out in May

Of all the things Kim Kardashian could put her name on and sell, this is probably the least useful, but with potential to become the most successful. In May this year, she’s coming out with her own book of selfies, called “Selfish.”

So not only is Kim the queen of selfies on social media, but she will literally become the first person to put a book with nothing but selfies (and some random quotes) out.

Selfie obsessed before selfies were even cool

To prove that she’s the reigning queen of the selfies, the book will show that she’s always been that – even way back in the day when selfie hadn’t even been coined. Apparently, Kim has always been fascinated with capturing her image on camera, TMZ says, so she’ll be including in the book photos from when she was still very young, from 1984.

“I took pictures of myself with digital cameras when I was in junior high and high school, and I just got hooked,” she allegedly writes in the caption to one of these photos. “I was always obsessed with selfies.”

Some might call that textbook narcissism, but whatever it is, it keeps Kim on the map and is helping her to become the most talked about celebrity. That, of course, would mean nothing if she didn’t also make a lot of money off it, which she does.

Moreover, TMZ says, Kanye West, Kim’s rapper husband, is ok with this obsession she has with taking her own pics, because he came up with the idea for the book. He and his creative team Donda did the rest then, with Kim only doing her part of snapping photos.

By the way, Kim reportedly takes anywhere between 200 and 300 selfies a day, some of which she posts online on her social media accounts. Some of those that she never posted would appear in the book.

Making a fortune out of nothing and being proud of it

Say what you will about Kim Kardashian, but she has truly perfected the art of being famous for fame’s sake. She started as Paris Hilton’s personal assistant and occasional closet organizer, and is today one of the highest earners in showbiz, in addition to being the only celebrity who is in the headlines daily – with several stories at once.

She turns all this attention she’s getting into cold hard cash by marketing that one asset she has: herself. Kim has turned selling your personal life into a very successful business, and she’s very proud of it. Considering the money she’s made already, she has every reason to be proud.

She is also quite unapologetic about selling her life, or as she once put it, “Well, a bear can juggle and stand on a ball and he's talented, but he's not famous. Do you know what I mean?”
