One of the most burning questions about Kim Kardashian's divorce from Kris Humphries is, for some, what will happen to the massive $2 million (€1.45 million) ring she got when he proposed. As it turns out, she can do whatever she pleases with it.

While some are still speculating on whether the marriage was a sham from the get-go, others just want to know what will happen to the 20.5-carat diamond ring Kim got from Kris and whether she'll be able to keep it.

The bauble, impressive for its sheer size and quality, was at the time Kris proposed, also one of the most talked about in celebrity world.

Later on, Kim made sure people would continue talking about it by posing with it wherever she went.

As a single woman, as the ex-Mrs. Humphries, she'll be able to do the same if she so chooses, E! Online writes.

Because Kim was actually married to Kris (and didn't just break off the engagement before the wedding) that means the rings is hers to keep – or do whatever she sees fit with it.

“Jennifer Lopez was engaged, Kim was married,” an unnamed source says for E!, referring to the time JLo returned the pale diamond engagement ring she got from Ben Affleck, when the couple Bennifer was no more.

“Traditionally, if you're engaged, and you break up, you give the ring back. But if you get married, the ring is yours to keep,” the insider explains.

As for talk that the ring was actually a loaner used as prop for their fake / made-for-TV marriage, that is simply not true.

“They paid for it. It's theirs. It was absolutely not donated and has nothing to do with Lorraine [jeweler Lorraine Schwartz] anymore,” the spy stresses.

The marriage, albeit brief, lasting only 72 days, was the real deal: Kim wouldn't fake something as serious as this just for a reality show, the insider assures E!.

“Kim wanted this marriage and she wanted kids with this guy. Now people question whether she really loved Kris and wanted to marry him. But at the end of the day, Kim is a smart girl... a smart, good girl,” says the source.

Kim hasn't said yet when she plans to do with the ring, but she did announce that she would donate she will donate $200,000 (€145,751) to the Dream Foundation, instead of returning the wedding gifts.
