They say bad publicity is better than no publicity at all. In Kim Kardashian's case, it seems that bad publicity is actually better than positive press, since she is officially the highest paid star in showbiz right now.

As the year is drawing to a close, offers are pouring in for stars to host various New Year's Eve parties all around the world.

The Kardashians, Radar Online informs, are hot in Las Vegas right now and, as such, serious money is being thrown at them to have them host parties here.

As with everything else, Kim is the leader of the pack: she'll be making $600,000 (€459,382.8) to be at Tao on the big night and entertain guests.

Various reports indicate that, right now, Kim is making the most money on this special occasion. Other celebrities either refuse to participate because they want to be at home with their family, or are getting offers for less.

“The big winner is Kim Kardashian currently embroiled in a scandal about sweatshop conditions at the Chinese factories that manufacture some of her clothing lines. The former Mrs. Kris Humphries is being paid an estimated $600,000 to appear at Tao. The fee is part of a large, multi-event deal,” Radar writes.

A publicist for Kim would not confirm the amount, saying such details are not to be discussed with the press.

“Also in Las Vegas, Black Eyed Pea Fergie is earning about $100,000 [€76,563.8] for playing the new 1Oak at the Mirage Hotel and Casino,” Radar further says.

“Ashton Kutcher had several big money offers but turned them all down. Katy Perry, a source [says], was asking $250,000 [€191,409.5] to appear but not perform at a club. So far, have not been any takers,” the e-zine notes.

Of the celebrities choosing to stay at home and be with their family or entertain guests, Radar lists P. Diddy and Mariah Carey.

The former made it clear from the start he would not be available for the big night because he'd be hosting his own part in his Miami mansion, but offers for a Mariah appearance (with just a couple of songs performed live) went as high as $500,000 (€382,819).

Indeed, as you must have noticed, Kim Kardashian was offered more money than Mariah Carey.
