Many will agree that getting through a divorce is an incredibly challenging and painful experience but, if you ask Kim Kardashian, she will tell you dealing with it is comparable to beating cancer.

As her fans must surely know, Kim and Kris Humphries were married for an almost record-breaking 72 days, and are still in the process of getting a divorce.

Their relationship, wedding and short-lived marriage were documented on camera for her reality show, and they are believed to have netted her many millions of dollars in the bank, something she has strongly denied on various occasions.

Now, in a new profile for The Guardian, Kim puts her foot in her mouth by comparing getting over the divorce to battling and beating cancer.

“We decided to film for the wedding. And that was a decision that he and I made together,” Kim says, explaining why they opted to have their wedding ceremony filmed for a big E! TV special.

“But I think that, with any decisions in life, like, I spoke to a girl today who had cancer and we were talking about how this is such a hard thing for her, but it taught her a big lesson on who her friends are and so much about life. She's 18. And I was like, that's how I feel,” Kim adds in the interview.

Though she also speaks about her relationship with her momager Kris Jenner and her highly mediated romance with Kanye West in the same piece, it’s this particular quote and comparison to cancer that’s getting most media attention.

It’s not hard to understand why it’s happening, either, particularly since many people still believe Kim’s marriage to Kris Humphries was just a shameless PR stunt meant to boost her public profile and bank account.

Again, this is something she’s denied multiple times but her words ring as familiar as those of the boy who cried wolf.
