14 DAY TRIAL // Ah the lives of the rich and famous! Kim Kardashian and new husband Kanye West could probably afford to buy the moon in the sky and then have it gold-plated and gift-wrapped for their daughter North West (aka Nori) but, for her first birthday, they settled for something a bit more… low-key.
To celebrate her daughter’s first birthday, Kim put together a party in Kourtney’s backyard that replicated the famous Coachella Music Festival, only on a much smaller scale. Still, as you can see in the photo above, it still included a Ferris Wheel.
“The shindig – which Kim Kardashian and Kanye West called Kidchella – was held in Kourtney Kardashian's backyard and it was filled with festival-goers. Guests were greeted with tie-dyed wrist bands and then roamed the grounds where they entered various booths – set up like teepees – and were treated to hair-braiding, face-painting, tie-dyed T-shirts and bandanas,” TMZ reports.
There was live music too: the same media outlet says there were 2 stages, on which Jaden Smith and Kylie Jenner performed. You can see a video below, of Kendall and Kylie fooling around on stage: we wouldn’t call that performing, because it feels more like karaoke.
Still, everybody invited seemed to have a blast, from the Kardashians to their friends and particularly their children, who probably had the most fun.
Notably absent from all photos made available online so far (by the Kardashians, of course) are daddy Kanye West, who is believed to have been away on work, and the birthday girl herself, North. Of course, being just 1, she would have probably remembered nothing from the bash even if she had attended, but still.
Khloe Kardashian also seemed to be having a lot of fun, posing with guests’ kids and playing all sorts of games with them. At one point, she posed with a feather headdress and posting the picture to her social media account, with the caption, “Ray of clouds. Chirping of birds. Gurgling of water. Granting desire. One with water.”
Many of her fans and followers thought that this kind of cultural appropriation is very disrespectful because the headdress represents a tradition and is not a costume you put on when you feel like fooling around, Radar Online reports.
Among those who reacted with fury at the photo are also those who are disappointed in Khloe because they somehow expected a bit more from her. Of all the Kardashians, Khloe is perceived by many as the one with the strongest morals and principles but, clearly, not in this situation.
