No, we're not talking about a newly discovered talent, some girl who's been singing her heart out on YouTube and has just been signed by a label.
Kim Kardashian herself, the Queen of reality television, is already making plans to reboot her failed singing career. Just because you didn't see enough of her on TV and the magazines, now she'll also be polluting the airwaves, making sure there is no escaping her in this world, short of cutting off all ties with modern world and living in a cabin in the woods.
The Sun claims to have spoken with an insider who said that, “Kim has told pals she’s keen to be taken seriously as a vocal artist. Kanye will advise on the project, which he’s given his full backing.” Oh good, Kanye's on board as well, that means the album is surely going to be a hit.
Admittedly, Kanye has a couple of hits under his belt and an inexplicable appeal among a large number of people who still show up for his concerts, despite the fact that he's not actually singing these days, but rather engaging in hours-long rants he calls performances.
But will he be able to boost Kim's career and vocal skills enough so that she doesn't flop miserably again? Some of you might still remember that Kim had a single out in 2011 called “Jam (Turn It Up),” which basically bombed.
It's too bad that Jay Z and Beyonce have cut all ties with the famous couple because maybe Jay could have produced her next album and Beyonce could have starred in it, maybe do a couple of featured songs. As it stands, it's more likely that they'll be in direct competition, so you can expect diss lyrics anytime soon.
Kim isn't the first socialite to think of starting a singing career, not by a long shot. People still remember Lindsay Lohan's failure into the music industry, even though she really tried her best. Then there was Paris Hilton, who thankfully is sticking these days to DJ'ing, playing other's people music, after putting out an entire album, “Stars Are Blind.”
There are some that say the worst cross from celebrity to music belongs to reality star Farrah Abraham, aka Teen Mom, who has also done some adult features just to pay the checks. Hopefully, Kim is going to be better just because she has Kanye in her corner.
If anything, documenting the entire process of becoming a pop star is going to be very interesting to watch on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, just because we're going to get to hear what she sounds like in the studio, before the producers get to alter her voice with Auto Tune.
