Kim Kardashian has done some pretty risky things in her younger years, most notoriously when she was just getting her start in showbiz, but motherhood and / or adulthood aren’t about to stop her from that. Proof comes in her brand new spread for Paper Magazine, which boasts the self-imposed goal of breaking the Internet.

Well, Kim came pretty close to that with the release of the first two photos from the spread, one of which is so revealing we can’t even show it to you here.

One thing you should know about it, though: it’s offering a very good look at Kim’s famous curves, particularly her (allegedly surgically enhanced, officially all-natural) backside. So there, it has been said.

Break the Internet, the perfect mission for Kim, the biggest celebrity of the moment

The other shot is a recreation of another famous Jean-Paul Goude photo, called the Champagne Incident, in which a woman is shown with a glass of champagne balanced on her backside, while she holds the bottle with both hands. The difference between the two is that Kim is wearing a glittery evening gown in the new iteration.

You can see Kim’s version in the Instagram photo below, which she posted first on Twitter with a message for all her haters who claimed she had no talent: you try to balance that cup on your backside, she told them.

In the online version of Paper Magazine (*please note that discretion is recommended before clicking the link, because it contains the aforementioned photo with Kim, full moon and all), the editors boast about the “assignment” they set for the issue: Break the Internet.

“There is no other person that we can think of who is up to the task than one Kim Kardashian West. A pop culture fascination able to generate headlines just by leaving her house, Kim is what makes the web tick,” they write. They also promise that much more is “in store” with the full edition, which comes out next week.

They were right: love her or hate her, Kim is perhaps the best woman they could choose for such a seemingly bold assignment. And she’s already doing all the work, with the photos going viral and getting millions of people talking about them.

Kim Kardashian, our modern Marilyn Monroe

This is how Kim is described by the publishers of her book of selfies (yes, she does have one of those coming out), “Selfish.” This isn’t the first time that this comparison is made, either, having originated from Kim’s then-boyfriend now-husband Kanye West.

The comparison ruffled countless feathers at the time, if only because Kim seems to represent everything that is bad about our contemporary society, driven by excess, focused on appearances, and lacking real substance completely.

But in terms of popularity and influence, the comparison stands: she’s criticized and she’s vilified, but Kim remains very famous. Nay, she’s actually getting more so (and richer) by the day and she manages to influence millions of women from all over the world.

Scoff or laugh at the comparison, but Kim Kardashian is our Marilyn Monroe. And yes, she can break the Internet.
