Kim Kardashian Announces Engagement to Kris Humphries

She’s hinted before that she was feeling it was time she settled down and started a family and, by the looks of things, this is precisely what she’ll be doing soon. Kim Kardashian is officially engaged to boyfriend of 6 months Kris Humphries.

Though it’s not long that the socialite and reality star denied reports that she was getting married or talking about starting a family soon, fate – and Kris – had something else in store for her.

Kim is telling People magazine that she didn’t expect a proposal from Kris, especially not now, when they’ve only been dating for such a short while.

On the other hand, even if she had expected Kris to propose, she couldn’t have possibly imagined something as romantic as what he came up with, with only some help from Kim’s mom.

“It was a dream come true for Kim Kardashian when she walked into her Beverly Hills home May 18. Her boyfriend of six months, New Jersey Nets forward Kris Humphries, was waiting in her bedroom on bended knee with four words written in red rose petals: ‘WILL YOU MARRY ME?’” People says of the proposal.

Naturally, Kim was left speechless. When she did recover her ability to speak, though, she said “Yes.”

“I didn’t expect this at all. I was in such shock. I never thought it would happen at home, and I never thought now,” the star says in an interview with People.

After the proposal, the entire family gathered at a surprise party, to celebrate the big moment.

“Kris really didn’t want a big celebration, but he had jokingly told my mom he'd be fine if there were mini-horses there. Later that night at the party, my mom brought out two mini-horses, covered in glitter, for us! It was hysterical!” Kim says.

The upcoming issue of People magazine – out on newsstands this Friday – will offer all the details of the surprise proposal, the party and, of course, the 20.5-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond ring that Kim is seen wearing on the cover.
