Kim Clijsters managed to qualify for the 3rd round in the Rome Open. Even if she found it very hard to concentrate, she recovered from
one set down to rally into the final 16 against Japanese Akiko Morigami.
The final score was 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.
The Belgian, who managed her first win of the year in Warsaw a couple of weeks ago, started off pretty bad, but she fought her cold and "allergies" to come back into the game.
"The last time I played on clay was in Warsaw and the surface was completely different. It took a bit of time to get used to it, but I kept going for my shots and luckily things went better in the second and third sets", said the Belgian player after the game.
If she keeps on with the good form and wins the Rome tournament, Clijters will regain her 1st place in the overall WTA standings, sending French Amelie Mauresmo to second.
Here are the other results from the second round in Rome Open:

P. Schnyder - V. Dushevina 7-6. 6-2
V. Zvonareva - N. Dechy 6-2, 6-2
