Ever since the HBO show ended in 2004, rumors about a possible remake for the big screen have been more than popular. The only certain thing is that there was the idea for a movie for the silver screen, but it never took off because of some misunderstandings between the members of the cast.
Said misunderstandings consisted in fact of Kim Cattrall's blunt refusal to reunite with the other three stars of the hit show, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon. Apparently, the girls, once best friends, had a falling apart that was caused by Kim and that prevented them to agree to join forces for a long feature film.
But Kim, who played the sex-crazed Samantha on the show, has finally come to her senses, probably realizing that 'Sex and the City' was the biggest thing that could have ever happened to her. Without implying that she is not a successful actress and businesswoman (she has written a couple of books, had a television show and released her own fragrance), the 'Samantha' part was undoubtedly her biggest break in Tinseltown.
Now, returning from a stint on the London stage, where she performed in David Mamet's 'The Cryptogram' for three and a half months, the actress confirms that a 'Sex in the City' movie is in the making and that she already announced everybody involved in it that she is OK to go. However, she says that, since the initial rumors died down, she had not been aware that the project was still presenting any interest to anyone.
'I've just come home and there was this flood of excitement!', she told 'Star' magazine, adding that she only found out about the remake when she came back to the States. Still, she can't believe that, after so many years, people haven't forgotten her, her character and the series. 'I'm so glad we haven't been missed or forgotten!', she explained.
The bad news is that, though she did confirm the movie, Kim Cattrall said nothing about such important details as when it begins production or the release date. Anyway, if she does, you'll find out about it here.
