There will be discounts, tournaments, features and no punch, but a lot of killing

With international releases, it's really hard for games to celebrate their birthdays. Born one day on one continent, and born on another one some place else make things rather confusing when one decides to blow their candles. Killzone might have been launched for the first time on November 2, 2004 for the PlayStation 2, but that's not considered its official birthday.  Guerrilla Games, the one that developed the original Killzone, is located in the Netherlands, so it has decided that the game will have its days and years counted starting on the date of the European release, that of November 26.

As such, the game will turn five years old tomorrow and the celebration for the toddler will finally kick off in a festive manner. There won't be any actual cake, and Killzone won't receive any gifts, but, instead, we will get the treats that the birthday boy should have.

Its older brother's DLC, the Flash & Thunder pack for Killzone 2, will be brought down to just $2.99, while the Map Pack Bundle is $9.99. The PlayStation Store special anniversary offer will end on December 10, so, unless you want to show up at the party and celebrate with Guerrilla, you'll have to go back to paying the full price.

The weekend will also offer a special XP bonus, and games played from November 27 to November 30 will provide you with twice the rewards for your efforts. Along with the XP extra, a retro tournament will also be held during this weekend, which will only make use of the Beach Head and Southern Hills maps from the second downloadable content pack.

As for everyone else, the official Killzone website will provide fans all sorts of special events to further celebrate the title. A special “versus” of the two games will be made, with Guerrilla staff striding through the original Killzone and share their thoughts on the now five-year-old game.
